Million Voters Project (MVP) Coalition Crushes Voter Contact Goal for 2018; Ramps Up for GOTV Weekend
Progressive voter engagement organization and partners have talked to over 1 million voters in 2018
Who: Million Voters Project (MVP), an unprecedented collaboration of 7 statewide and regional community networks with 93 affiliates that span across 26 counties of California MVP has been organizing since 2016 to expand California’s electorate to by engaging infrequent and new voters, with a unique focus on low-income voters, young voters, Black, Latino and Asian Pacific Islander communities, and immigrants and refugees
What: In 2018 alone, MVP has contacted over 1 million voters, including nearly 400,000 in the 4 weeks leading up to the November 6 election. This cycle, MVP is conducting operations in 5 California battleground congressional districts, in addition to working statewide to pass Proposition 10 and defeat Proposition 5. Over the next four days, MVP will deploy over 4,000 volunteers will make phone calls and knock on doors to recontact supportive voters, motivating them to get to the polls on November 6.

Saturday 11/3 and Sunday 11/4 from 9AM - 3PM
Monday 11/5 from 12PM - 7:30PM
Tuesday 11/6 from 9AM - 8PM
Where: Get-Out-the-Vote Operations cover 26 counties including Sacramento, Alameda, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Los Angeles, Orange County, Fresno, Merced, Kern, San Diego, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, and Riverside, as well as the battleground congressional districts CD-21, CD-25, CD-49, CD-39, and CD-48.
Why: As the country is focused on the potential for a “Blue Wave”, MVP has been knocking on doors, making phone calls, and building relationships to increase voter turnout for 3 years. While traditional campaigns do not target new and infrequent voters, Million Voters Project is unique by building relationships with unlikely voters year round, and building lasting civic engagement infrastructure in local communities. MVP contacted 1 million voters in 2016, and waged the largest field campaign in the weeks leading up to the November 2016 Election, contributing to the passage of Prop 55, 56, 57. By 2020, MVP plans to turnout 1 million voters in support of the historic Prop 13 reform ballot initiative, Schools and Communities First. MVP is comprised of Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment (ACCE), Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders for Civic Empowerment, California Calls, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), Power California, PICO California, Inland Empowerment, and the Orange County Civic Engagement Table.
